Signatures and proof
A signature you can still prove a year later
The client signs on your phone at the kitchen table, or from a link if they are not there. What you keep is not just a picture of a signature.
Most of the argument about a signed quote happens months after it was signed, and it is rarely about whether somebody signed. It is about what they signed. Zeus saves the signed document with a fingerprint of its exact contents, keeps a running record of what happened to it, and puts both on a page your client can open without an account and without phoning you.
Signing, on the spot or from wherever they are
Open the quote, turn the phone around, and the client signs with a finger or types their name. If they are not on site, send a signing link instead and they sign from their own phone. A remote signer gets a one-time code to confirm it was them. Either way the scope freezes at the moment of signing, so nobody can quietly change the document afterward and leave the signature sitting under it.
What actually gets saved
The signed PDF carries a fingerprint of exactly what was signed. Change one line of that document and the fingerprint no longer matches, and the record says so. Alongside it sits an append-only log of what happened and when: consent given, document opened, signature captured. Nothing in that log can be edited later, only added to. You can download the whole evidence package for any signed document, and hand it to whoever is asking.
The part your client can check themselves
Every signed document gets a public verification page. Your client opens the link, and the page tells them whether the document in front of them is the one that was signed. They do not need an account, they do not need the app, and they do not have to take your word for it or wait for you to call back. This is the piece most people are surprised by, because checking a signature usually means asking the person who is holding it.
What it costs, and what it needs
Signing costs nothing to start and does not run out. It is not a trial, there is no card, and the signature does not expire on you at the end of a month. What each size includes is on the pricing page. One honest limit: signing needs a connection. That is deliberate rather than a gap. A signature only your own phone can vouch for is not worth much in the conversation where it matters, so the record is written where both of you can check it.
Frequently asked questions
- Does the client need the app to sign?
- No. They sign on your phone if they are in front of you, or through a link on their own phone if they are not. Checking a signed document later needs nothing at all, only the public page.
- What stops someone changing the quote after it is signed?
- The scope freezes at signature, and the signed PDF carries a fingerprint of its exact contents. If the document is altered afterward, the fingerprint no longer matches and the verification page says so.
- Can I sign with no signal?
- No, and that one is on purpose. Creating the job, taking the photos and running the checklist all work with no signal. Signing is the step that needs a connection, because a signature that only your own device can vouch for is the one that gets argued with later.
- What do I get if I need to hand the whole thing to somebody?
- Download the evidence package for that document. It carries the signed PDF, the fingerprint, and the record of what happened to it and when.
The signature is the easy part. The record of what was signed, and somewhere your client can go to check it without asking you, is the part you will want a year from now. How Zeus keeps the proof on the job covers the rest of the record, and the pricing page lists what each size includes.
