Questions
What to know before you start
People mix up two things. The Free plan never runs out, and it covers as many jobs, quotes and invoices as you like. The free trial is different: it lets you try the paid product. Both are explained below.
Does it really work with no signal?
Yes. That is the whole reason we built it. The app keeps your records on the phone itself. You can create a job, take photos, run a checklist and log your work straight away, with no bars at all. When you get a signal again it sends everything on its own, in the background. If that fails it waits and tries again. Your work is saved the moment you write it down.
Which phones does it run on?
Android and iPhone, from Google Play and the App Store. You can also open Zeus on a PC or Mac in any modern browser at app.fieldzeus.com, with the same account and the same data and nothing to install. The download page has all three.
Is the Free Plan actually free?
Yes, and it never runs out. You get one seat for one person, and as many jobs, quotes and invoices as you like. It also gives you scheduling, client records and job history, the Price Book, inspections, and a download of your records for your accountant. No card needed. It is a real way to work, not a clock counting down.
What is the free trial then?
It is a free try of the paid product, and it is a different thing from the Free Plan. Every new account gets it. No card needed. It runs for thirty days from the day you start it. When it ends you choose. You can stay on the Free Plan and keep sending quotes and invoices on as many jobs as you like, or you can move to the Pro Plan or the Crew Plan. Either way you keep everything you have already put in.
What is the difference between the Pro Plan and the Crew Plan?
The difference is how many people can use it. The Pro Plan is for one person: $39 CAD a month, or $348 for a whole year. The Crew Plan is the same app for a team, and it comes in four sizes: five seats for $99 a month, ten seats for $174, fifteen seats for $249, and unlimited seats for $349. On the Crew Plan each person gets their own seat and their own login, and you choose what each one can see. The Crew Plan also gives you the shared team schedule, the Dispatch Board and time tracking. The five-seat size can be paid for a whole year at once, at $948. On the bigger sizes, paying for a year is by arrangement.
What happens when the introductory price ends?
You start paying the normal price for the size you are on: $39 CAD a month for the Pro Plan, or $99, $174, $249 or $349 a month for the Crew Plan. It covers your first three months of paying, and only if you pay month by month. If you pay for a whole year at once you pay the normal price from the start.
Can I pay for the Pro Plan right now?
Yes. You subscribe in the Zeus app on your phone, and the store you installed it from handles the billing. Every new account still starts with a free try of the paid product first, and when that ends you can stay on the Free Plan instead.
How do I cancel?
In Google Play or the App Store, wherever you bought it. Both stores require cancellation to happen there. The app takes you straight to the right page: Menu, then Subscription and Billing, then Cancel Plan. Your access continues to the end of the period you have already paid for.
Can I change my plan from inside the app?
Yes. Menu, then Subscription and Billing, and the Manage Plan screen shows what you are on today. From there you can move between the Pro Plan and the sizes of the Crew Plan on a monthly subscription, and the store you installed Zeus from handles the change and the billing. If you set Zeus up on a new phone, Restore Purchases is on the same screen. Cancelling and pausing are still done in Google Play or the App Store, because neither store lets an app do those for you.
What do quotes and invoices cost?
Nothing extra. Quotes, invoices and getting a signature are all part of the Free Plan, on as many jobs as you like. The Pro Plan adds the things that go with them: job photos and documents, project management, receipt scanning and drawing takeoff.
Can I record how my client paid?
Yes. Record how you received the money: cash, cheque, e-transfer or a card you processed on your own machine. Zeus keeps the balance up to date.
Does it handle my taxes?
Tax rules are set up region by region. Right now that covers Canada (GST, HST and PST) outside Québec. Tax rules for the United States, Australia and New Zealand are not configured yet, which means the app cannot work the tax out for you in those countries. Where the rules are set up, the app works the tax out for you, so you never type a tax total yourself. There is also a page for keeping your tax receipts together, ready for the tax you claim back.
What can I give my accountant?
Zeus can give you a CSV file, a QuickBooks .IIF file, or a PDF pack. Your accountant gets the whole year in a file they already know how to open.
Can I bring my clients across?
Yes, two ways. You can pick out the clients you want from your phone contacts, without pulling in every contact on your phone. Or, if your records are sitting in another program, get them out of it as a CSV file: clients, jobs, quotes and draft invoices all come across that way. You line the columns up once, Zeus shows you exactly what it is about to write before it writes anything, and if it comes out wrong you have seven days to undo the whole thing.
Is my data mine?
Yes. You can download your jobs, clients, invoices, receipts and photos whenever you want. You can also delete your account from inside the app. That really does delete it, files and all, after a short waiting period. Your records are kept in one region and stay there. No other business can ever see them: that is built into the storage itself, not just into the app.
What happens to my photos on the Free Plan?
Job photos and documents are part of the Pro Plan. On the Free Plan the job record is words only: what you did, when you did it, and what it cost. The Pro Plan adds the photos, and it keeps a backup copy, so you do not lose them if you drop the phone. More than one person on the account means the Crew Plan. On the Crew Plan that backup is always on, because a teammate can only see a job photo after it has left the phone that took it. Moving down from the Pro Plan does not delete the photos you have already uploaded. They stay in your account as smaller preview copies.
What happens to my team if my Crew Plan stops covering everyone?
Nobody is removed, and no work is lost. Everyone keeps their login. If your Crew Plan no longer covers the whole team, uncovered members cannot open the app until you free up a seat or add one back. You and all other covered members can keep working. When a seat becomes available, the member can sign in again without setting anything up.
Who is ZEUS built for?
Trades who work away from an office and need proof of what they did. Notes you can trust, work that keeps going with no signal, a schedule, job photos and paperwork, and an easy way to turn a quote into an invoice.
What languages does the app come in?
The app is currently available in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese (Brazil), Arabic, Persian, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Punjabi, Vietnamese, Filipino, Ukrainian, Russian, Korean and Polish. Each person on an account can choose their own language in Settings, so team members can use different languages on the same job. Quotes, invoices, signed contracts and emails are always sent in English, regardless of the language you use in the app.
Can I use Zeus on my computer?
Yes. Zeus also runs as a web app in any modern desktop browser at app.fieldzeus.com. Sign in with the same account to see the same jobs, quotes, invoices and photos as you see on your phone. The larger screen is useful for preparing quotes, reviewing the Price Book and finishing paperwork.
Still not sure? The best way to find out is on your own jobs.
No card needed. No demo to sit through. No sales call.
