Electrical Inspection Checklist
Four electrical inspection checklists in one: residential, rough-in, final, and commercial inspections, with NEC code references throughout.
163 of 163 items on the sheet
Tick items off as you go, hide a section or a single line, write a note or add a photo on any row, then save it. Nothing you type, tick or attach here is saved or sent anywhere: a note and a photo print on the sheet and are gone when you reload.
The button opens your print dialog: choose Save as PDF as the destination (or print it straight to paper). The sheet carries only the items you kept.
Sheet details
Optional. Whatever you type prints across the top of the sheet; leave one blank and it prints as an empty line to fill in on site.
Residential
Residential — General Safety and Code Checks 12/12
Residential — Electrical Panel 14/14
Residential — Wiring and Outlets 11/11
Wiring Methods — NEC 300 Series 9/9
An open neutral puts the two hot legs in series across the load, and line-to-line voltage lands on equipment built for half of it.
Residential — GFCI/AFCI Protection 9/9
Residential — Lighting 6/6
Residential — Appliance and Cord Safety 7/7
Residential — Smoke Detectors, Carbon Monoxide, and Fire Prevention 5/5
Residential — Outdoor Electrical Inspection 5/5
Rough-In
Rough-In Electrical Inspection 9/9
Final
Final Electrical Inspection 8/8
Commercial
Commercial — General Safety and Code Checks 12/12
Commercial — NEC Reference Checks 7/7
Commercial — Switchgear and Distribution Panel Inspection 6/6
Commercial — Emergency and Exit Lighting 5/5
Commercial — Grounding, Bonding, and Surge Protection 5/5
Commercial — Current Ratings and Openings 6/6
Arc Flash Study and Shock Approach Boundaries 6/6
The label on the door reports a number somebody calculated. This line is about the calculation behind it, not the sticker.
Incident energy grows with how long the arc burns, so a slow upstream device can push the number higher than a large fault current does.
Commercial — Contamination and Damage 6/6
Commercial — Mounting and Ventilation 4/4
Commercial — Terminations and Splices 7/7
Commercial — Clearances and Directories 4/4
Notes
Optional. Anything you write here prints at the foot of the sheet, after the last section: one place for whatever does not belong to a single line.

That is the whole sheet.

This checklist is a working document, not a code inspection or a substitute for a licensed professional. Where a checkpoint cites a code section, it is a United States NEC reference. Confirm the current requirement for your own jurisdiction (in Canada the CEC, in Australia and New Zealand AS/NZS 3000) before you sign anything off.
What the Electrical Inspection Checklist Covers
163 checks across 22 sections: Residential — General Safety and Code Checks, Residential — Electrical Panel, Residential — Wiring and Outlets, Wiring Methods — NEC 300 Series, Residential — GFCI/AFCI Protection, Residential — Lighting, Residential — Appliance and Cord Safety, Residential — Smoke Detectors, Carbon Monoxide, and Fire Prevention, Residential — Outdoor Electrical Inspection, Rough-In Electrical Inspection, Final Electrical Inspection, Commercial — General Safety and Code Checks, Commercial — NEC Reference Checks, Commercial — Switchgear and Distribution Panel Inspection, Commercial — Emergency and Exit Lighting, Commercial — Grounding, Bonding, and Surge Protection, Commercial — Current Ratings and Openings, Arc Flash Study and Shock Approach Boundaries, Commercial — Contamination and Damage, Commercial — Mounting and Ventilation, Commercial — Terminations and Splices, Commercial — Clearances and Directories. Work through it on a phone on site, or export the PDF and carry the paper. Anything you tick prints ticked, a note you write on a line prints under it, and a section you do not need can be hidden before you export.
It is free, there is no account, and nothing you enter is kept. Use it as a starting checklist, not a standard. It is written for general Electrical work, so add the checks your own standards and your local code require before you take it to a job.

Where Zeus comes in
The checklist is the easy half. The paperwork after it is not.
Print this one as often as you like. When the filing starts to cost more than the inspection, Zeus keeps the job, the address, the photos and the finished report in one place on your phone. It all works with no signal in a basement.
Free plan, no card. Inspections, quoting and invoicing are all free; Pro adds job photos and documents.
